NYQUIST – HOKEY OKEY filly

23 Hokey Okey Pedigree
Dark Bay, Filly, Foaled 04/13/2023 — Purchased for $70,000
Nyquist - Hokey Okey, by Lonhro

Offering Detail

The lone filly by Uncle Mo’s champion son NYQUIST at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Yearling Sale on Oct 1st was Hip #280, a Kentucky-bred daughter of the red-hot young sire NYQUIST. She was a look-alike clone of her father: attractive head, seal-brown coat with just a speck of white on her head. Smooth athletic walk. She had been supplemented to the Timonium sale after not hitting her reserve of $90,000 at Keeneland two weeks earlier.

Offered in a separate catalog four hips from the end of a one-day 284-Hip sale, this filly required our patience to acquire for $70,000. We are offering her at No Markup: 10 Shares at $7,000 each. She will be broken at our Merryland Training Center for 30 days and then sent to the Middleburg Training Center for her 6-month VA-certification.

Before we review NYQUIST’S 2024 Sales Statistics, let’s talk about this filly’s female line. Her dam has aleady produced Gr. 3-placed, $300,000-earner RED KNOBS. Her second dam, the stakes-winning Nureyev mare WILD PLANET, produced Gr. 2-stakes winner SURYA (by Unbridled), who produced Gr. 1 Spinster Stakes winner ARUNA ($947,447-earner). Third dam IVORY WINGS is out of Broodmare of the Year KITTIWAKE, the foundation family of MISS OCEANA, from the famous Newstead Farm in Virginia.

Here’s the latest on NYQUIST at recent sales: From a 2022 Stud fee of $55,000, 55 of those yearlings have averaged $321,461. He sired two $1-million-plus Keeneland yearlings last month. In four crops to race, he has sired NINE Grade One winners. That’s rare air.

With purses for Kentucky-breds also soaring at Churchill Downs, at Keeneland, at Ellis Park, and at the brand-new Turfway, there will be plenty of opportunity to earn back her purchase price. When she finishes her VA-certification residency at the end of April she’ll go to our trainer Mike Trombetta so he can have her ready for the 2025 Colonial summer meet.
