Racing/Breeding Partnerships Country Life Farm retains an interest in each of our partnership horses. By offering well-bred fillies with residual value, we provide a hedge against the riskiest part of the Thoroughbred industry: the sheer uncertainty of racing. Our fillies, descending from strong families, are not solely reliant on racing ability to maintain modest value. For example, a colt with an injured suspensory ligament either becomes a riding horse or begins the descent into the claiming ranks. We have no interest in either scenario. However, a filly with the same injury can be sold at auction as a broodmare prospect, or bred to one of our stallions as then sold as a young broodmare, or, if she proved her worth at the track, she can join the farm's select band of broodmares. Our goal is to have our fillies win themselves out at the racetrack, and earn a spot in the Country Life Farm broodmare band.

"Broodmare" Partnerships Periodically, we will find a young broodmare prospect at the race track (perhaps through a claiming race), at a public auction, or through a private purchase. With her racing days behind her, the filly or mare immediately joins the Broodmare Band at Country Life,"and we raise and race her foals" or raise and sell her foals.
In most cases, a Broodmare partnership is a smaller entity (in terms of partners) than a Racing to Breeding venture. Often, only one-three people partner with Country Life Farm in a breeding partnership. |

Both our Racing/Breeding and our Broodmare Partnerships can be long-term commitments. Partners must be aware of the risks involved in the Thoroughbred industry. Both racing and breeding can be slow processes, with many setbacks. Although both types of partnership provide their share of excitement and satisfaction, partners must assess the realities of the sport.
